How to Make a QR Code Restaurant Menu

Turn your restaurant menu PDF into an easy-to-share online menu and give customers a simple way to access it by scanning a QR code.

A QR code restaurant menu makes it easy for customers to access your menu using their phones. Instead of searching for your restaurant online or handling a printed menu, customers can simply scan a QR code and open your digital menu.

With AdFlip, you can start with the PDF menu you already have, turn it into an online flipbook, and create a QR code that points directly to it.

What you need

  • A PDF version of your restaurant menu
  • An AdFlip account or the available menu creation workflow
  • A place to display or print your QR code

Step by step

Create your QR code menu

01

Upload your restaurant menu PDF

Start with the PDF version of your restaurant menu. From AdFlip, upload your PDF or drag and drop it into the upload area.

Once the file is uploaded, AdFlip converts your menu into an online flipbook that customers can open directly from their phones.

02

Give your menu a title

After your PDF has been converted, add a clear title for your menu. For example, you could use your restaurant name followed by “Restaurant Menu”.

A clear title makes it easier for you to identify the menu later and helps keep your digital publications organized.

03

Choose how customers view the menu

Select the page experience that works best for your customers. Depending on the options available in AdFlip, you can choose a traditional book-style experience or a more straightforward scrolling or slider experience.

For mobile-first restaurant menus, choose an experience that makes it easy for customers to move through the menu with simple taps and swipes.

04

Create and download your QR code

When your menu is ready, open the sharing options and select the QR Code option. AdFlip generates a QR code connected to your online menu.

Download the QR code image and keep the original file somewhere safe. You can then print it for tables, counters, windows, takeaway packaging, or other customer touchpoints.

05

Let customers scan and view

Place the printed QR code where customers can easily see and scan it with their phone camera. After scanning, they can open the menu online without searching for your restaurant's website or menu manually.

Before printing a large number of copies, test the QR code with several phones to make sure the menu opens correctly.

Easy updates

Need to update your restaurant menu?

Menus change regularly. You may need to update a price, add a new dish, remove an item, or correct a typo.

Update the original menu PDF and use the available replace or update workflow in AdFlip. The goal is to keep the same digital menu destination so customers can continue using the QR code you have already printed.

Why this is useful

When the menu destination stays the same, you can reduce the need to replace printed QR codes every time your menu content changes.

Best practices

Where should you put your QR code?

Put the QR code somewhere customers naturally look for menu information. Common locations include:

✓Restaurant tables
✓Counter and reception areas
✓Entrance and waiting areas
✓Takeaway packaging
✓Receipts and promotional materials
✓Outdoor signs or window displays

More than a menu?

What if you need an ordering system?

A QR code menu is useful when your main goal is to give customers quick access to your digital menu. However, a restaurant that needs online ordering, payments, a website, table ordering, or other operational features may need a dedicated restaurant ordering platform in addition to a digital menu.

You can still use AdFlip for the publication and menu experience while connecting your wider ordering workflow through the tools that best fit your restaurant.
